A shocking claim has been made about teenagers in a survey. It has been said in this survey that teenagers, especially girls, are facing the worst mental health. They have to face many bad and difficult situations as compared to the rest. In this survey, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told about the factors affecting the mental health of teenagers.

The CDC released its biannual Youth Risk Behavior Survey on Monday. In this survey, the disturbing reality of teenagers has been shared. According to the report, the Kovid-19 epidemic and the lockdown caused by it has badly affected the teenagers all over the world. The survey revealed that indicators showing poor mental health among high schoolers have increased rapidly in the last 10 years. This also includes the idea of suicide.

Increase in thoughts of suicide!
An increase in rates of depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts has been observed among students who are female and belong to the LGBTQ+ community. Most teen girls (about 57 percent) reported feeling hopeless and sad in 2021, twice as many as teen boys (29 percent). That is, one out of three teenage girls thought of committing suicide. In addition, students from the LGBTQ+ community (52 per cent) have also experienced poor mental health, with more than one in five attempting suicide in the past year.

Many students attempted suicide
There has been a sharp increase in the number of students missing out on school due to safety concerns, girls experiencing sexual violence and male students experiencing online bullying. The authors of this CDC study warn that these stresses are affecting the lives of students in many ways. More than 40 percent of high school students said that feelings of sadness or hopelessness prevented them from engaging in their regular activities. While 18% admitted that they had planned to commit suicide in the last year. At the same time, 10 percent of the students said that they had attempted suicide several times during the last year.
