Most of us start our day with tea. There has been a long debate on whether drinking tea is beneficial or harmful. Studies have also shown mixed results. Some research suggests that drinking black tea instead of milk tea can have many health benefits, while some researchers believe that due to the caffeine in tea, its regular or excessive consumption can also cause many side effects.

In this article, we will try to understand what kind of changes can happen in the body if tea is not drunk at all for 30 days.

Health experts say that although drinking tea in limited quantities is generally not considered harmful for most people, if you drink it more or four to five times a day, then it can cause some side effects. Most of the problems are caused by the caffeine and tannin present in tea. So what benefits can be derived from giving up tea?

What do dieticians say?

To know what effect it has on the body if tea is given up for a month, we contacted Pune-based dietician Garima Jaiswal. Garima says, drinking tea in limited quantity cannot be said to be harmful. On the other hand, if you consume black tea without milk and sugar, which has immunity-boosting spices, then it can have many benefits. But if you are drinking milk tea 4-5 times a day, then there is a risk of some long-term damage.

Quitting tea for a month can cause healthy changes in the body. Reducing caffeine intake for 30 days leads to good and better sleep, reduces anxiety, and also improves digestive health.

Sleep problems start improving
Tea naturally contains caffeine, so its excessive consumption can disrupt your sleep cycle. Some research suggests that excessive consumption of caffeine can disrupt the production of melatonin hormone. This hormone signals the brain that it is time to sleep. Lack of sleep can increase problems like fatigue, loss of memory, obesity, and poor blood sugar control.

By not drinking tea for a month, melatonin levels become normal and you can avoid sleep problems.

Caffeine addiction starts to go away
Caffeine is a habit-forming stimulant, which is why you feel like drinking tea or coffee again and again. Not getting tea on time can also cause problems like headaches, irritability, increased heart rate, and fatigue.

By staying away from caffeinated things like tea and coffee for a month, caffeine addiction also starts reducing with time. This is beneficial for both physical and mental health.

Relief in digestive problems
Excess tannin present in tea leaves starts increasing digestive problems, which is why some people may have uncomfortable symptoms like gas formation, nausea, or stomach pain due to drinking too much tea. You may also have serious digestive problems due to regular or daily excess tea. By staying away from tea or caffeine for a month, digestive problems start to get better, and the risk of constipation and indigestion is reduced. It is also beneficial for improving digestion.
