Health experts say that at present, dietary disturbances are the main reason for most of the rapidly increasing chronic diseases. Among the things that are causing the most harm to the body, the main ones are excessive consumption of salt and sugar. People who consume excessive amounts of salt and sodium may have a higher risk of heart disease and heart attacks. But do you know that consumption of not only salt but also excessive amounts of sugar can increase heart problems?

Excessive consumption of sugar is mainly considered one of the main factors of diabetes. But it can also increase your risk of heart disease. In a recently published study, researchers have alerted about the harmful health effects of excessive sugar consumption. It becomes necessary for all people to pay attention to this.

Excess sugar can be harmful
Research published in the BMC Medicine Journal states that excessive consumption of sugar (sugar or things in which white processed sugar is added) in the diet increases the risk of heart disease and stroke. Consuming too much of not only salt but also sugar can increase your risk of heart disease. It is important to avoid excessive consumption of sugar in any form.

What did the study find?
The study was based on data on the eating habits of more than 1.10 lakh people aged 37 to 73 in the United Kingdom, whose health outcomes were tracked for almost nine years. Research results showed that high sugar intake can increase a person's risk of heart disease by 6% and stroke by 10%.

The most common forms of sugar eaten by participants were processed sugar and sweets, says study author Cody Watling, a researcher at the University of Oxford. Some people also consume sugar through cookies and sugary pastries. Sugars found naturally in fruits and vegetables are not considered harmful and were excluded from this analysis.

Risk of heart disease or stroke
Researcher Watling said that people who were found to have the highest risk of heart disease or stroke consumed about 95 grams of sugar per day. By comparison, US guidelines suggest that the amount of added sugars should not exceed 10% of daily calories.

Avoiding sugar-sweetened beverages is probably the most important thing we can do, says Walter Willett, a professor in the department of nutrition at Harvard University. It can help reduce the risk of both diabetes and heart.

What do health experts say?
Health experts say that consumption of sugary foods leads to excessive accumulation of fat in the body, which can be a problem that hinders blood flow and also increases the risk of heart disease. Consuming too much sugar also increases the risk of increasing blood pressure, which is one of the major factors of heart problems.

The harms of sugary foods and drinks have been seen for the body, the white sugar that we consume can be the most harmful. It may be beneficial to consume alternative things like jaggery in its place.
