Corona infection has remained a global health risk for more than four years. Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 70.36 crore people have been affected by this infectious disease, out of which 69.86 lakh people have died. Corona is considered to be the cause of serious problems not only in the case of infection, but also for the people who have recovered from the infection. Due to Post Covid (Long Covid), many types of health problems are being seen in people.
People suffering from coronainfection are experiencing problems related to heart, metabolism, and brain even more than a year after recovery.
In a recent study conducted regarding the side effects of Covid-19, researchers have alerted about lung problems. Studies show that after acute COVID-19, the rate of lung damage cases is very high in Indian people. COVID-19 has severely impacted lung function, which can lead to serious and even life-threatening side effects.
Effect of coronavirus on lungs
According to the study, after severe cases of COVID-19, most Indians are reporting a significant decline in lung function. More than half the people have complained of difficulty in breathing. These findings are worrying, due to which everyone has been advised to remain alert.
Health experts say that if you have been a victim of COVID-19, then as a precautionary measure, consult a doctor and get your lungs and heart checked. Coronavirus has affected these two organs the most. Lung problems in people who have recovered from the infection are considered alarming for the future.
Lung function affected
Researchers from Christian Medical College, Vellore conducted the study to know about the problems caused by Covid-19. This is India's largest study to investigate the side effects of Covid-19 on lung function.
During the research, 207 participants were examined and an attempt was made to understand the problems faced by them. The study revealed that a large number of Indians still complained of lung-related problems, on an average of more than two months after recovering from serious illness. Shortness of breath was reported in 49.3 percent and cough in 27.1 percent.
What do researchers say?
DJ Christopher, professor of pulmonary medicine at the Medical College and lead researcher of the study, says, many researches indicate that lung problems are being seen more in the Indian population in comparison to the figures of other countries in the severity of the disease. Is. However, the exact cause of lung damage is not clearly understood because the Indian population has more comorbidities than other countries.
Lung problems are also reported globally
Similarly, in another study conducted in Italy, dyspnea or shortness of breath was seen in 43 percent of people, and cough problem was seen in less than 20 percent of people. These figures were less than those revealed in the Indian study. Health experts say that damage to the lungs is a serious problem. If it is not treated on time, there can be a risk of death.
Earlier studies had warned about an increase in heart disease and serious digestive problems in a large number of people after infection with coronavirus. Corona has significantly increased the problems of gastrointestinal dysfunction and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
