Cancer is one of the leading causes of death globally. Every year millions of people die due to various types of cancer all over the world. Prostate in men and ovarian-breast cancer in women are the most commonly reported cases, which can be a problem that increases the risk of death by many folds.

Cancer is also a serious threat in India, about which health experts advise all people to be careful. To understand the reasons for the rising death rate from cancer, a team of researchers conducted a study in which many shocking things came to light.

In the report of the study, scientists said, the risk of death from cancer is seen more in women than in men. In India, the death rate from cancer has decreased by 0.19 percent annually in men, but it has increased by 0.25 percent in women. The increased risk in women may be alarming and needs to be taken care of by all.

The increased death rate in women?
This study was done to know the risk of cancer in Indian people. Of the 23 types of cancer (which caused 12.85 million deaths between 2000 and 2019, the research conducted), women have a higher recorded risk of death due to the disease.

In a study published in JCO Global Oncology, a journal affiliated with the American Society of Clinical Oncology, experts have said that we need to be alert about the risks of this serious disease.

The highest risk of death from pancreatic cancer
According to the study, the cancers that reported the most deaths between 2000 and 2019 were cancers of the lung, breast, colorectum, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, gall bladder, pancreas, kidney, and mesothelioma. The death rate due to pancreatic cancer is highest among men and women at 2.7 percent. There was an annual increase of 2.1 percent in mortality due to this cancer in men and 3.7 percent in women.

Risk of cancer and mortality
Experts said declines were observed in death rates from stomach, esophagus, leukemia, and melanoma cancers. The study found that cancer death rates were higher for men than women for all common cancers except for thyroid (0.6) and gall bladder (0.6).

The death rate for cancer of the larynx (throat) was almost 6 times higher in men than in women, followed by lung (2.9), melanoma (2.5), bladder (2.3), mouth and oropharynx (2.2), and liver (1.9) cancers.

What do researchers say?
The study has shown that the cancer death rate among men in India has shown a slight decrease over time, which is a good sign, but the increase in women can be serious. People need to be careful about cancer prevention measures. Cancer is a global health threat, we need to be very careful about its risks.
