Women need to pay special attention to their health. Ignoring problems like PCOS can increase many types of problems for you in the future. Studies show that women suffering from premenstrual syndrome may be more likely to have menopause before the age of 45.
Premenstrual syndrome has a variety of signs and symptoms, including mood changes, food cravings, fatigue, irritability, and depression. Doctors estimate that three out of four women may experience premenstrual disorder (PMD) during menstruation.
Researchers say all women need to be alert about such risks, ignoring these problems can increase serious risks for you in the future. Premature menopause is also a problematic condition.
Premenstrual syndrome and premature menopause
Health experts say, most Indian women have menopause between the ages of 50-55, and some conditions can cause changes in their timing.
In a study published in the JAMA Network journal, researchers said that women suffering from premenstrual syndrome may have higher risks of many types of problems. The researchers studied data from more than 3,600 participants and have been alerted about their findings. Women with PMD were more than twice as likely to have early menopause.
The problem of premenstrual syndrome
Health experts say that many types of premenstrual syndrome problems can occur in women. Premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a less common condition known to affect women with psychological, gastrointestinal, skin, and neurological problems.
Previous research suggests that PMD conditions may also increase the risk of health problems such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes during the reproductive years.
What do experts say?
Stephanie Faubion, medical director of the North American Menopause Society, says identifying women at risk for premature menopause is important because it is also linked to an increased risk of heart health problems, and brain and bone problems. It's important to note that the study is observational, meaning the researchers are not saying that PMD will cause early menopause. Rather, the study suggests that there may be an association between the two.
