Norway's Data Protection Authority said on Monday that social media firm Meta could face a hefty fine over a security breach. The company is accused of privacy violation and will be fined $ 1 lakh i.e. about Rs 82 lakh every day. The authority said that unless the company makes an action plan to prevent user data privacy violations, it will have to pay this fine.

Meta will have to pay the fine every day!
The data protection authority said that unless Meta takes action, the company will be fined every day from August 4 to November 3. It states that Meta cannot access user data, such as users' physical location, in Norway. Indeed, meta may use information such as user location to target advertising.

Security breaches completely illegal
Tobias Judin, head of Datatilsnet's international section, says this is completely illegal. We must stop Meta immediately. We need to intervene immediately. We can't wait any longer. Judin says this will put extra pressure on the meta. Datatilsinet has referred its move to the European Data Protection Board, which, if it agrees, could make the fine permanent and increase the territorial scope of the judgment in Europe.

META growing concern over security breach
Meta said it would review Datatilsnet's decision and that there would be no immediate impact on its services. Let us tell you that this decision of the Norwegian authority has come at a time when the European Union is also taking a strict look at Meta regarding privacy. The European Union says that Meta cannot use user data illegally. Last year, Ireland's regulator (DPC) also warned Meta about a security breach.
