Ingredients for making Gulab Jamun
Bread slices - 6-8
Milk - 1/4 cup
Maida - 1 tsp (for binding)
Baking soda - a pinch
Ghee or oil - for frying
Syrup
Method
To make Gulab Jamun from bread, first cut off the edges of the bread slices and break the bread into small pieces. After this, knead the bread pieces by adding milk slowly. Keep in mind that do not add milk at once, otherwise the mixture may become too wet.
Now add 1 tsp flour and a pinch of baking soda to this mixture and mix it well to prepare a soft and smooth dough. Divide the prepared dough into small balls and give them a round shape. Keep in mind that there are no cracks in the balls.
Heat oil or ghee in a pan and fry these balls on low flame till they become golden brown. When all the Gulab Jamuns are fried well, take them out on kitchen paper so that excess oil can drain out. Add the fried Gulab Jamuns to the hot syrup and leave it for at least 1-2 hours so that the Gulab Jamuns absorb the syrup well. These Gulab Jamuns made of bread are ready to serve.
