Ingredients to make soup
4-5 ripe tomatoes (large)
1 cup fresh basil leaves
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp ginger paste
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1 cup water
Salt to taste
1 tsp sugar (optional)
Coriander leaves (for garnishing)
Method
Making tomato soup is quite easy. To make it, first wash the tomatoes thoroughly. Then, cut the tomatoes into small pieces. If you want to keep the soup more smooth, you can remove the peel of the tomatoes. Also, wash the basil leaves properly, otherwise the taste of the soil will spoil the taste of the soup.
Now heat ghee or oil in a wok or pan. Add cumin seeds to it and let it crackle. Then, add ginger paste and fry for a few seconds. Now add tomatoes to it and fry lightly.
After this add turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Then let the tomatoes cook with the spices for a while until they become soft.
Now add a cup of water and basil leaves to it. Let this mixture boil for a while. When the soup starts boiling, reduce the flame and let it cook for 5-7 minutes so that all the flavors mix well.
If you want, you can also strain it. Now the soup is ready. Finally, sprinkle green coriander leaves on it, take it out in a bowl, and serve hot. This soup will warm your body during severe colds and coughs.
