How many hours to sleep according to Ayurveda? If the process of changing sides continues throughout the night, then how will anyone get energy after waking up in the morning? At present, the kind of lifestyle that we have become, changing sides at night is a sign of being unhealthy. If your sleep pattern is getting worse, then you will slowly start seeing its effect on your health. Mental health also worsens due to lack of sleep and sometimes anxiety increases due to this.

From headache, fatigue, body pain, stress, anxiety, and lack of concentration to blood pressure problems, many problems increase due to less sleep. In such a situation, it is also important to improve your sleep pattern.

Ayurvedic expert Dr Nikita Kohli has given some such ways on Instagram, with the help of which you can fix your sleep pattern. These are Ayurvedic rules which are necessary to be followed.

Make a habit of sleeping and waking up with the sun

In childhood, we read that a person who sleeps early and wakes up early is intelligent. The saying 'Early to bed and early to rise' applies here. According to Ayurveda, your body's circadian rhythm works properly only when you work with the sun. However, if we look at the current lifestyle, this is not possible. In such a situation, you can make such a setting at home. White light can make one feel like the sun and thick curtains can make one feel like night. In such a situation, your sleep pattern will align with the light and gradually your sleep will start improving.

Have dinner 3 hours before sleeping

If you are one of those people who like to eat late at night, then your sleep pattern may be disturbed and it may happen that even after sleeping you need to go to the washroom again and again or suddenly wake up startled. According to the rules of Ayurveda, problems like indigestion and insomnia can increase due to eating food after seven o'clock at night. If you eat food 3-4 hours before sleeping, then your digestion process will start before sleeping and in such a situation, the time of sleep will also be tied gradually.

If the digestion process starts before sleeping, then many problems related to the stomach are removed.

Switch off electronic devices 1-2 hours before sleeping at night

How many times has it happened that you have not kept the phone on the side even while sleeping or the phone has fallen from your hands on your face due to sleep? Gadgets are especially responsible for ruining our sleep cycle. Because of these, our natural sleep cycle is always disturbed. According to Dr Nikita, we should switch off our phones and gadgets from around 8.30 to 9.00 a.m.

Cleveland's famous sleep disorder specialist HarneetWalia (MD) published a research paper about this. According to him, our mind is busy due to mobile phones and due to this, not only can there be a problem of retinal damage to the eyes, but it can also cause hormonal problems.

It also causes problems in our REM sleep, so for better sleep, put the phone on the side and rest your eyes for a while.

Sleeping on the left side will improve your health

According to Dr. Nikita, if you sleep on the left side, then you get better sleep because it reduces heartburn and other digestive problems. This position also reduces snoring and leads to sound sleep. Therefore you should sleep in this position.

Do not sleep in the afternoon in any month other than summer

According to Dr Nikita, sleeping during the daytime in any other season except summer increases Kapha and Pitta dosha. This causes excessive laziness in the body and productivity reduces.

If you are having a lot of trouble sleeping, it is better to seek medical advice. Not sleeping can cause serious health problems.
