Disadvantages of feeding children cereal for breakfast

  • According to experts, children should not be given cereals for breakfast every day. This can harm the health of children.
  • More than 78 per cent of cereals meant for children contain high amounts of sugar. Two tablespoons contain one-third of the sugar that 8-year-old children should consume in a day.

  • Some cereals have 6 types of sugar mixed in them. Due to this, the sugar level in the body of children can increase suddenly.
  • Eating too much sugar can affect the brains of children. Consuming too much sugar puts the brain in overdrive mode and can lead to hyperactivity and mood swings.
  • This sugar-induced hyperactivity in children and teenagers can lead to confusion as they grow up.

  • Sugar has addictive qualities. Consuming excessive amounts of sugar continuously can affect your feelings and emotions at some point in time. Not eating sugar can also affect your mood.
  • At the same time, this can also cause fear and anxiety.
  • Giving too much sugar to children can also affect their memory.
  • If you give too many sweets to children from an early age, it may make it difficult for them to remember and understand things as they grow up.
  • Eating too much sugar harms gut bacteria and can worsen digestion.
