Scientists have made a shocking claim in a study regarding Covid. According to research, the coronavirus activates the same inflammatory response in the brain as in Parkinson's disease. The team involved in the research, led by the 'University of Queensland', has identified a possible future risk for neurodegenerative conditions in people who have had corona. The study report is published in Nature's Molecular Psychiatry.

We studied the effect of the virus on the brain's immune cells, microglia, which are key cells associated with the growth of brain diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, said the lead author of the study, Professor Woodruff. He said, our team grew human microglia in the laboratory and infected the cells with the virus SARS-Cov-2, the causative of Covid-19. The researchers found this caused inflammation in the brain, similar to what occurs in Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
