Amritsari Naan is a popular Indian flatbread that originated in the city of Amritsar, Punjab. Here's a recipe for Amritsari Naan:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1/4 cup of yogurt
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter
  • Nigella seeds (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar.

  2. Add the yoghurt, milk, and oil to the bowl, and mix well to form a dough. Knead the dough for a few minutes until it is smooth and elastic.

  3. Cover the bowl with a damp towel and let the dough rest for 2-3 hours.

  4. Preheat the oven to 500°F.

  5. Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.

  6. Roll out each ball into a thin, oval-shaped naan.

  7. Brush one side of the naan with melted butter and sprinkle with nigella seeds (optional).

  8. Place the naan, buttered-side up, on a baking sheet.

  9. Bake in the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until the naan is golden brown and puffy.

  10. Remove from the oven and brush with more melted butter.

  11. Serve hot with your favourite Indian curry or as a side dish.
