As soon as the summer season comes, all the summer clothes come out of the wardrobe. People like me wear not only western but also ethnic outfits very fondly in this summer season. If you are a saree lover like me, then you too must have a good collection of cotton sarees. By the way, many women hesitate to wear cotton saree even after being a saree lover, because they either do not know how to wear cotton saree properly or they are not able to carry it.

So today I will tell you what is the right way to carry a cotton saree properly and what are the things you should keep in mind while draping it.

Step 1

You will find not one but many varieties of cotton fabric. You will also find paper cotton and butter cotton in it. If you are experiencing wearing cotton sarees for the first time, we would suggest you go for ace cotton fabric which is easy to carry. A butter cotton fabric saree can be a very good option for beginners.

Step-2

The saree should not have creases and it should be pressed. Many times we make a mistake and do not even look at the pressed cotton saree kept in the wardrobe from months ago and then when summer comes, we wear it after pressing it again. Cotton sarees kept long ago get creases and when you wear the saree, there is a lot of difficulty in making pleats.

Step-3

Now it is time to drape the saree. To drape a cotton saree, the first thing you need to do is a basic tuck. You can also choose a body shaper petticoat for a cotton saree. It gives a good fitting when worn in a saree. When you do basic tuck-in, keep in mind that the saree should not be twisted from anywhere. You don't have to tie the basic too tightly; otherwise, you will feel uncomfortable when you wear the entire saree.

Step-4

After the basic tuck-in, it is time to make the lower pleats or shoulder pleats of the saree. It is up to you to decide what you want to make first as I make the pallu pleats first. To make this also you have to decide in advance whether you want the pallu to be long or short. By the way, if your height is short, then keep the length of the pallu long and if the height is high, keep the length of the pallu short.

Step-5

Do not ignore the width of your shoulder to make pallu. If the shoulders are broad then you should keep the width of the pallu less and if the shoulders are thin then taking a wide pallu will be a better option for you.

Step-6

When you make lower pleats, keep in mind that while making lower pleats in a cotton saree, you should make wide pleats instead of thin ones because it is easy to manage them. Not only this, but you should also press the plates once with the help of your hands.

Step-7

In the very last step, you have to see if the saree is showing more volume than anywhere or if the shoulder and lower pleats are not being managed properly, then with the help of safety pins, settle it.
