Union Minister for Communications, Railways, Electronics, and IT Ashwini Vaishnav launched the Sanchar Saathi portal on Tuesday. On this occasion, he said that under the vision of PM Modi, we have launched the Sanchar Saathi portal for the security of telecom users. In this, three improvements have been made for the security of telecom users, which will help in protecting the digital identity of the users. These reforms are perfectly fit to benchmark India's telecom sector globally.
Vaishnav explained that the first reform is the Centralized Equipment Identity Register (CEIR), which helps block, track, and locate mobile phones when they are lost or stolen. If the SIM card is removed and a new SIM card is inserted, the phone may still be blocked. CEIR will help secure phone data and personal belongings.
He told that the second is 'Know your mobile'. Users will get the facility to know how many SIM cards are there in their name and what kind of documents have been attached. Now you can know and turn it off because the phone numbers are linked to KYC. This will be done with an artificial intelligence algorithm.
