In the changing season, the risk of cold-cough, cold and other diseases caused by infection increases significantly. Sinus is also a similar problem, which bothers people. Symptoms like nasal congestion, headache, and watery nose occur due to sinus. Sinus pain is troublesome.
Sinus is also called sinusitis. It is a nasal disease, which causes pain in the muscles of the face along with difficulty in breathing. There are many causes of sinus like bacterial and fungal infections, allergies, nasal bone enlargement and asthma etc. But you need not worry as try these simple remedies to soothe sinuses and get relief from allergies. Expert Says, “Do you get troubled by frequent cold, cough, sinus or allergy problems? So you are experiencing a Kapha imbalance in Ayurveda, in which mucus, water retention and undigested substances accumulate in the system in the form of mud and water.
1. Drink warm water
Drink warm water throughout the day to prevent the accumulation of mucus. This is because the body needs to be fully hydrated to recover from a sinus infection.
2. Steam
Steam inhalation can help keep mucus membranes moist. This can help relieve symptoms of sinus congestion and encourage the sinuses to unblock.
Add water and a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the face steamer. Cover your head with a towel and inhale the steam.
Eucalyptus oil provides relief from the symptoms of sinus congestion. It has anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties, which help in relieving the symptoms of cold and flu and reducing respiratory problems. In addition, it may also help kill bacteria that contribute to sinus infections.
3. Ayurvedic recipe
Add 1 tsp honey, 1/2 tsp grated ginger, a pinch of black pepper, turmeric and cinnamon. Consume this decoction twice a day. Do not heat honey, as it becomes toxic.
Honey is rich in antioxidants, is anti-allergic and helps remove congestion in the nasal passages. Turmeric and ginger have anti-inflammatory properties, which reduce swelling. The effect of black pepper is hot. It keeps the body warm and removes allergies.
Other measures
- Use pungent spices like black pepper, mustard, ginger, cloves and red chillies in food.
- Eat light fruits like apples, pears, watermelon, pomegranates, apricots and cranberries.
- To prevent water retention, eat hot soups with spices and a very little salt.
- Consume low-fat milk when needed and add a pinch of turmeric and a little grated ginger to it to remove chest congestion.
