Material:
1/2 kg semolina
2 cups buttermilk
1 cup finely chopped tomatoes
1 cup finely chopped onion
2 tablespoons finely chopped coriander
4-5 chopped green chillies
1/4 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon mustard
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Salt as per taste
Instruction:
-Put semolina in a bowl.
Then add buttermilk in it and mix. If needed, add some water to make a medium-thick batter of semolina.
- Keep the prepared batter covered for half an hour. During this time the semolina will absorb liquid and swell. If the batter seems too thick, you can add more water.
-Add finely chopped onion, tomato, green chili, green coriander, cumin, and salt in the batter. Mix well. Finally, add baking soda and stir.
-Heat the pan and pour a little oil in each mold. Once the oil is hot, drop some mustard seeds into each mold and let them splutter. Then, add the semolina batter using a spoon or ladle.
Cover and cook the appe. Check them after 2 minutes, turn them over, cover them again, and cook for 1-2 minutes.
When both sides of the appe become golden and crispy, turn off the flame and take them out from the pan.
Serve semolina appe hot with chutney or sauce.
