In Hinduism, during the festival of Navratri, devotees worship and perform rituals of nine forms of Goddess Durga for nine days. Many people kept fast during this period by consuming only fruits and specific foods. It is advisable to include some sweet dishes in the menu of Navratri fast. A popular sweet that can be made is Sabudana Kheer. Know its recipe here.

Sabudana Kheer Ingredients:

1 cup sago

1 liter milk

4-5 cardamom pods

1/2 cup almonds, cashews and raisins

1 cup sugar

How to make Sabudana Kheer:

To make Sabudana Kheer, it is important to wash the Sabudana thoroughly as this removes excess starch, which affects the taste. Wash it 3-4 times to remove most of the starch. After washing, soak the sago in a bowl of water for about 20 minutes.

If you want, you can also lightly fry the sago in ghee, which increases the taste.

Heat milk in a pan. When the milk boils, add soaked sago into it. Some people like to fry the sago in a little ghee before adding it to the milk, but this is not necessary. After adding sago, cook the kheer on low flame.

When the sago becomes transparent and the kheer becomes thick, add sugar and all the dry fruits to it. Stir to thoroughly incorporate the sugar and let it cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Your Sabudana Kheer is ready to serve. Enjoy this delicious sweet dish on Navratri or any other occasion.
