When we eat carbs, our reward circuit gets turned on. Dopamine is released in the body from our brain. Dopamine is part of the reward circuit in the brain that is involved with addictive behavior. When dopamine is released more, we become addicted to eating that thing. Eating sweets also makes us feel good and the excess release of dopamine makes us addicted to sweets. Due to the lack of carbs, the production of feel-good hormone i.e. serotonin stops, due to which we can feel low. We feel good after eating it.

Disadvantages of eating more carbs

This is why it is so easy to become addicted to carbs. If you are eating too many carbs in every meal then it increases insulin resistance in your body. Due to insulin resistance, glucose does not reach our cells. It remains in our blood and due to this our cells do not get fuel to work. If you're having a healthy bowl of granola for breakfast, a wrap for lunch and pasta for dinner, it may satisfy your hunger but not fuel your cells. This is the reason why one feels lethargic after eating it.
