Pregnancy Care: Pregnancy is an important life-changing experience for the mother-to-be and her family members. A pregnant woman must take care of herself as even the slightest negligence during the stages of pregnancy can prove harmful to the health and well-being of both the mother and the unborn child. As soon as the pregnancy is detected, you start visiting the doctor so that there is no complication. It is a good habit but at the same time, you should practice some measures from the first week till the last stage, which can prevent any kind of complication from happening.

Some ways to avoid pregnancy complications-
1. Caffeine intake

Pregnant ladies should actively switch to decaffeinated or caffeine-free products as there is a risk of miscarriage with excessive consumption of caffeine.

2. Keep recreational drugs away
Using recreational drugs before or during pregnancy can lead to poor developmental problems and birth defects in the unborn baby. As stated earlier, the things consumed by the mother go directly into the system of the unborn child. In such a situation, exposure to these recreational drugs can also lead to the fetus becoming addicted to these harmful substances.

3. Food intake
Maintaining a balanced healthy diet during pregnancy is essential for both the mother and the growing baby. Some things a pregnant woman should avoid during pregnancy include foods like raw and undercooked meat and fish. Also avoid processed meats, unpasteurized milk, cheese, raw eggs, and raw egg products as well as sugar-based products. Too much glucose can cause diabetes.

4. Avoid cleaning the dustbins
This may especially apply to mothers and families who have fostered a cat. Scientifically named Toxoplasma gondii is a parasite found in cat feces or cat litter that results in toxoplasmosis. A pregnant woman may not have any symptoms when exposed to toxoplasmosis. However, exposure to the unborn child may result in adverse consequences such as premature birth, severe brain, and eye damage, or blindness.

5. Avoid using electric blankets
During the nine months of pregnancy, it is advised to avoid using electric blankets as it emits low-level electromagnetic fields which are harmful to the growing fetus in the womb.
