All the savings accounts which are not active for the last 3 years will be closed from July 1. The bank is going to close the accounts of those customers whose accounts have not had any transactions in the last few years or have zero balances.

Customers are getting notices
PNB has told its customers to check the status of their savings accounts once. The bank has sent notices to those customers whose accounts have not had any transactions for the last three years.

The bank said that to keep his account active, the customer would have to go to the bank branch and get KYC done. Along with KYC, the customer will have to attach the related documents.

Why did PNB take this decision?
PNB said that many scammers misuse such accounts. In such a situation, this decision has been taken by the bank to prevent the case of fraud. The bank said that the calculation of the account will be based on 30 April 2024.

The bank has already sent notices to those customers whose bank accounts have not been doing any transactions for the last 3 years. Customers can go to the bank for more information.

These accounts will not be closed
The bank said that it would not close the Demat Accounts. Apart from this, the accounts opened for government schemes like Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Pension Yojana (APY) will also not be closed.

Similarly, this rule does not apply to Minor Savings Accounts as well. That is, minor savings accounts will also not be closed.
