Research published in the European Society of Cardiology has revealed that people suffering from a severe infection of Covid 19 are 16 times more likely to have ventricular tachycardia within 6 months. Serious patients of corona are more in need of mechanical ventilation. Please tell that this research was presented in the Scientific of the European Society of Cardiology. However, you might have heard about this strange disease of the heart for the first time.
Actually, this is the problem of heart rhythm, which occurs in the lower chamber of the heart. In medical language, it is also called V-Tac or VT. In this condition, the heart beats 100 or more times in a minute. Sometimes there can be a danger of cardiac arrest.
Kept under observation for 9 months
For this research, 28,463 people were included, out of which 3,023 patients with severe corona infection on mechanical ventilation in Swedish ICU were also included. The average age of the people involved in the research was around 62 years. 30 per cent of these people were women. The people involved in the study were monitored for 9 months.
Risk of other heart diseases
Researchers found that people suffering from severe corona infection had a 13-fold higher risk of atrial fibrillation, a 14-fold higher risk of other tachyarrhythmias and a 9-fold higher risk of pacemaker implantation. During the research, patients' age, gender, high blood pressure, diabetes, high blood lipids and chronic kidney disease as well as socioeconomic status were analyzed.
What are the symptoms of ventricular tachycardia?
The commonly observed symptoms in patients during ventricular tachycardia are chest pain, dizziness, palpitations, lightheadedness and shortness of breath. Usually, ventricular tachycardia lasts for 30 seconds but in severe condition, the patient may lose consciousness i.e. he may faint. Not only this, the patient can also have a cardiac arrest. Corona patients should keep checking their heartbeat. At the same time, in any kind of medical emergency, one should go to the doctor immediately.
