Every day lakhs of people travel by train across the country. To travel in the reservation coach of the train, tickets have to be booked in advance. For this, many people book tickets from the reservation counter, but most of the passengers do online ticket booking in today's time. If the seat is vacant on the train, then the ticket can be booked easily, but when the seat is not vacant, especially during festivals or the holiday season, booking a ticket becomes a challenging task.

Indian Railways has provided many types of ticket booking facilities keeping in mind the needs of the passengers. When there is a long waiting list for the train, then booking a current ticket, Tatkal ticket or premium Tatkal ticket is a good option. Often people get confused about these three types of tickets. If you are also one of them, then this news is for you only. Let us know about this in detail in this article.

Current Ticket
The current ticket window opens after the first chart is released. Usually, booking of current tickets starts four hours before the departure time of the train. One thing is clear from this that booking of current tickets has to be done on the day of travel.

The biggest advantage of current tickets is that if you plan to travel at the last minute, then this can be a good option.

Current ticket booking can be done both online and offline.

The biggest demerit of this ticket is that there is no guarantee of availability of empty seats, in case the train is full, tickets may not be available.

Tatkal ticket

A tatkal ticket is a reservation ticket that is booked a day before the departure of the train. The fare of the Tatkal ticket is slightly higher than the normal fare.

The window for Tatkal tickets opens a day before at 10 am for AC and 11 am for non-AC.

Tatkal tickets can be booked both online and offline.

Tatkal tickets are useful for those passengers who decide to travel at the last minute.

Premium Tatkal Ticket
Premium Tatkal ticket is also a type of reservation ticket. The fare in this is much higher than the Tatkal ticket. This is because the dynamic charge is also taken in it.
Its window opens at 10 am a day before the scheduled departure of the train. Booking for AC class tickets starts at 10 am, but for non-AC class tickets, booking starts at 11 am.
Premium Tatkal tickets can be booked only from the official website of IRCTC.
By booking a premium Tatkal ticket, there is a higher chance of getting a confirmed seat as compared to a Tatkal ticket.
