The government is constantly trying to provide affordable treatment to the general public. Besides, its objective is also to increase employment opportunities. The Centre's 'Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra' scheme is an important initiative in both these directions. If you want to start your own business with less money, then you can take advantage of the government's Jan Aushadhi Kendra Scheme.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced the expansion of Jan Aushadhi Centers in BJP's election manifesto 'Modi's Guarantee'. Let us know what are the conditions for opening Jan Aushadhi Kendra, how much will be invested in it, and how much will be the earnings?

The process of opening Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendra is quite easy. But, for this, some special conditions have to be fulfilled. The first condition is D. Pharma or B. Pharma certificate. Also, you should have 120 square feet of space to open the center. The fee to apply is Rs 5 thousand.

There are three categories in this. In the first category, a pharmacist, doctor, or registered medical practitioner can open a Jan Aushadhi Kendra. The second category includes trusts, NGOs, and private hospitals. In the third phase, those agencies which have been nominated by the state government get a chance.

The government will help you fully
Once you open a medicine center, you will also get financial incentives from the government. An incentive of 15 percent or a maximum of Rs 15,000 per month can be given on the monthly purchase of medicines up to Rs 5 lakh. The government also provides a one-time assistance of Rs 2 lakh to recover basic expenditure in certain categories and sectors.

At present, there are about 11 thousand Jan Aushadhi centers in the country. The government has set a target of opening 25 thousand such centers, which efforts will be made to achieve in the next year.

Who gets affordable medicines?
The objective of Jan Aushadhi Kendra is to provide good quality medicines at low prices to the needy, especially the poor and backward classes. Generic drugs are available here, about which people are being made aware.

Generic medicines are as effective as branded medicines. However, they do not have any patents, so there is no extra charge for them and they are available at a lower price.

PM Narendra Modi had also mentioned this in his address from the Red Fort on January 26 this year. He said that Rs 3,000 is spent every month on the treatment of diabetes. Its one-day medicine costs Rs 100, but you can get it at Jan Aushadhi Center for Rs 10 to 15.
