Gone are the days when we used to stand in long queues at the bank to do any banking transaction. From online shopping to making payments, digital banking has become our favorite friend. Technology has made banking easier for us, but at the same time, it has also increased the chances of online banking frauds manifold. Therefore, you need to understand how to protect yourself from such threats. Today we are going to tell you 5 tips here to protect yourself from online banking fraud.

1. Keep changing your password over time
It is important to change your password every two to three months to protect yourself from potential hackers. Whenever you update your password, always set a strong password that consists of at least eight characters, and don't share your password with anyone.

2. Never use a public computer for net banking
Avoid using public computers for net banking at any cost. Using a public tool puts your banking details at higher risk, and hackers can easily get hold of your secure information which can put you in trouble of losing money in your bank account. Therefore, never use public computers for online banking.

3. Use Only Verify Apps or Websites for Online Banking
It is always advisable to use secure and verified apps or websites to do any monetary transaction online. Using any unauthorized app/website can lead to online banking fraud. So, always reach out to genuine apps or websites that make transactions easy and secure.

4. Don't fall prey to phishing or vishing scams
You may have received emails, calls, and messages that try to trick you into disclosing your banking information. The fraudster may act as a bank employee to check your bank details or OTP in the name of cashback, rewards, etc. Once they get the information they need, they can access your bank account without your knowledge. Hence, it is advisable to avoid clicking or answering any suspicious links or calls, which may help hackers take over your bank account.

5. Be Extremely Careful While Using Your Debit/Credit Card
Several incidents of card fraud have been registered in the name of giving out travel benefits, packages, and much more. If your card is lost, report it and get it blocked by the bank immediately. Also, never share your credit/debit card details with any unknown calls or messages. Also, do transactions from the original POS machine only.
