What to do with the PAN card of a deceased person?
If there is a person who has passed away due to some reason, then in such a case the rule says that you should get the PAN card of that person surrendered or deactivated. This is considered correct from a security point of view.

You can return your PAN card like this:-
Step 1

If someone close to you or someone you know has passed away, then the PAN card of that deceased person should be returned.
For this, you have to write a letter to the Assessment Officer

Step 2
In the letter you have to state the reason why you are returning the PAN card.
Along with this, you have to attach a copy of the death certificate.
After this, after all the investigations are done, the PAN card is returned.
