Although the opposition is always an attacker on the Modi government at the center, these days the opposition seems to be more aggressive regarding the special session called for the Parliament. In fact, the Central Government has called a special session of Parliament from 18 to 22 September. On the other hand, today i.e. on Tuesday, this matter gained momentum when discussions started intensifying that the central government may propose to change the name of the country to India, that is, the name India will be removed. In such a situation, there is also a question that if the government does this, then what will happen to the websites of India that are working on the .in domain? Will all these websites be closed? So let's try to know the answer to this question. You can know about this in the next slides...

It is being discussed that if the name of the country changes, then what will happen to those websites whose domain is .in? On the other hand, if the name of the country is India, will the domain with .in be replaced with .bh? However, these are just possibilities.

What is a domain?
First of all, you should know that if the name of a country changes, its top-level domain, also called TLD, may be affected. A TLD is a one- or two-letter domain at the end of websites in that country. For example, like- www.india.gov.in, in this case, it has a .in domain at the end.

What domains are mainly from which countries?
India - .in
America - .us
Germany - .de
United Kingdom - .uk

What will happen to the domain?

First Possibility
If the country is named Sirbh Bharat, then there is a possibility that the government may change .in to .bh or the domain may be something else. This requires the cooperation of the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority and ICANN. Know here that this organization globally manages domain names and IP addresses.

But also know here that the old TLD can be redirected to the new one, for which the website owner will need time. As such, both TLDs will be available until then and will be considered.

Second chances
Even if the name of the country completely changes to India, even if the government wants to retain the previous domain .in and does not make any changes in it. There is also an example of this from one country. The Czech Republic changed its name to Czechia in the year 2016 but kept its TLD as .cr i.e. did not change it.
