Nutrition Month is celebrated every year from 1st to 30th September across the country to raise awareness for proper nutrition. This year the seventh Nutrition Month is being celebrated under which many points related to health are being focused on, one of the main topics is "anemia" which is seen in every section of India, especially in women and children.

Iron deficiency during pregnancy can be dangerous for mother and child. Its deficiency increases the risk of infection in children and reduces learning ability. Iron is required for hemoglobin synthesis and it is necessary for mental work and maintaining immunity. Iron deficiency causes anemia.

Let us know some main food related things by which it can be prevented and removed.

Include these things in your diet

Include green leafy vegetables like spinach, fenugreek, arbi leaves, mint and gram, fig and halim seeds in your daily diet. You can take pomegranate, carrot and beetroot in the form of soup, juice or salad. If you are a non-vegetarian, then you can include mutton and eggs in your diet in a limited quantity.

What things should be kept in mind?

Whenever you take a vegetarian source of iron in your food, then definitely add freshly cut lemon on it so that it helps in the absorption of iron present in the food. Include amla, guava and other sour fruits in your food.

Avoid consuming these things

After taking a vegetarian source of iron, do not consume tea or coffee for a few hours as it can affect the absorption of iron.

So, if we adopt these few things in our daily life, then one of the main objectives of the Nutrition Month can be achieved by eliminating anemia in the country.
