Whenever it is talked about a skincare routine, it is always said that you need to moisturize your skin. This is also true in a way because if you do not moisturize your skin properly, then your skin will start getting wrinkles soon. Its logic is simple the moisture will evaporate from the skin and your skin will start looking duller. Now everyone will know this thing about moisturizers, but there are many such myths which people believe without thinking.
Dermatologist Dr Aanchal Panth of Dermafollix skin & hair transplant clinic has shared information related to this on her Instagram account. He has told about three such myths that people believe. Moisturizing is essential for all skin types and you should not be lax about it at all.
First of all, let's know about the myths told by Dr Aanchal.
Myth 1- Moisturizer is only for dry skin
No this is wrong. Moisturizers should also be applied to those with oily and sensitive skin. Skincare is done better by this. Yes, it is definitely that people with oily skin need a normal moisturizer and people with dry skin need a moisturizer with a slightly heavy base, but many people who have oily skin do not apply moisturizer on their skin at all. this is wrong.
A water-based moisturizer is perfect for those with oily and sensitive skin. With this, they can also keep their skin light and also have skin protection.
Myth 2- Applying moisturizer makes the skin oily
This is also wrong. If people with dry skin apply moisturizer, then their skin does not look too dry and flaky and if people with oily skin apply moisturizer, then their skin remains natural. The moisturizer does not affect skin texture. Think of it like a protective barrier that your skin needs. You can apply this moisturizer to your skin in any way. Yes, you must apply a moisturizer that suits your skin.
Myth 3- Moisturizer should be applied when the skin is dry
If you apply moisturizer when the skin is completely dry, then you will have more trouble. Due to this, the moisturizer will not spread properly and will not be absorbed into the skin. You should always apply moisturizer on your skin when your skin is slightly damp. If your skin becomes too dry, then the moisturizer will not do its job.
How many times a day should I apply moisturizer?
Whatever your skin type, you should clean your face twice a day and apply moisturizer. In winter, the quantity of moisturizer is required and in summer it seems less. However, you have to keep in mind that always chooses a moisturizer that suits your skin type.
Even if you have dry skin, a very sticky moisturizer will not do the trick. You should choose a cream-based moisturizer for dry skin and either a serum-based moisturizer or a water-based one for oily skin.
