According to a report by Economic Times, the problems of users may increase further in the year 2022. It is being told that with the start of 5G services, telecom companies can increase the tariff of their prepaid plans once more in the new year.

Big money will have to be paid for airwaves
The introduction of 5G services will help telecom companies to earn extra revenue from the digital service segment and enterprise, but for this, companies will also have to pay a huge amount. The biggest part of this will have to be given to the companies for the airwaves in the auction.

The industry owes Rs 4.7 lakh crore
Telecom companies still owe a lot. According to ICRA, the dues of the industry may be Rs 4.7 lakh crore by March 31, 2022, and it may reach Rs 4.5 lakh crore by March 31, 2023. Telecom companies are demanding that the price of the spectrum should be kept affordable so that 5G service can be made easily available across the country.

'Very positive for tariff hike industry'
Nitin Soni, Senior Director, Corporates at Fitch Ratings said that the recent tariff hikes have been very positive for the industry. He further said that Airtel and Jio have enough cash at the moment, but this price hike is not proving enough for Vodafone-Idea.

First of all, 5G will be started in big cities
Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea are currently conducting their 5G trials in the country. Cities, where 5G trials are being conducted, include Gurugram, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu, Ahmedabad, Pune, Lucknow, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Gandhi Nagar. According to the Department of Telecom, 5G services will be started first in metro and big cities.
