Clean the screen and fingerprint sensor: Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen and fingerprint sensor. If your phone has a rear-facing fingerprint scanner and you have a cover on the phone, remove it as the cover may block the fingerprint sensor.
Take care of fingerprint placement: Instead of placing your finger around the fingerprint scanner, place it correctly. You have to be careful to make the scanner helpful in detecting the finger.

Set up an alternate fingerprint: Some smartphone models limit setting two or more fingerprints, so try setting up an alternate fingerprint.
