These laddus made from sesame seeds and jaggery not only complete the Petpuja but also make the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti festival even more special. Today we will tell you an easy recipe for making sesame laddus, which everyone can try at home.
Ingredients for making sesame laddus
- 1 cup white sesame seeds
- 1 cup jaggery (cut into pieces)
- 1/4 cup grated coconut
- 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
- 1 tablespoon ghee
Recipe
- Heat ghee in a pan and roast sesame seeds on medium flame. Fry the sesame seeds until their color turns light golden and the aroma starts emanating.
- Take out the roasted sesame seeds on a plate and let it cool down a little.
- Add jaggery in the same pan and melt it on low flame. Make sure that the jaggery does not burn.
- After the jaggery melts completely, add sesame, coconut, and cardamom powder to it. Mix well and cook for about 2-3 minutes.
- After the mixture becomes slightly thick, turn off the gas.
- Let the mixture cool down a bit and then make small round laddus.
- These delicious sesame laddus are ready! You can store them in an airtight container at room temperature for 2-3 weeks.
Some important tips
- If you want, you can also add dry fruits like almonds, cashews, or raisins to sesame laddus.
- If you find the laddus a little dry, you can add a little milk.
- If the laddus are too sticky, you can keep them in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes.
