This year Mahashivratri is being celebrated on 8 March 2024. Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshiped on the holy occasion of Mahashivratri. According to religious beliefs, on this day Lord Bholenath was married to Mother Parvati. It is Lord Bholenath who remained a monk even after living a family life. He is worshiped along with his family i.e. wife and children.
For eternal marriage and a happy family, people keep fast on Mahashivratri and worship Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. However, for marital happiness, some lessons can be learned from the lives of Lord Shiva and Parvati.
If every couple imbibes the sutras of the married life of Bholenath and Parvati in real life, then not only will their life be happy and long, but they will also always remain together as each other's true life partner. On the occasion of Mahashivratri, know about the qualities of Shiva and Parvati which are the formula for an ideal married life.
With patience
Parvati ji did not find Lord Shiva just like that. She had performed hard penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband. Parvati Ji knew that achieving her goal would not be easy at all. But he remained patient. It can be said that the way to worship Bholenath and to please him is as easy and simple as it is to please him. Patience is useful even in marital life. This patience helps in overcoming even the biggest challenges and achieving the goal.
Live an easy life
Parvati ji lived like a princess but agreed to live on Mount Kailash for the innocent Bhandari. Shivji also did not show off any pretense in this marital relationship, rather he always remained the same with Mother Parvati as he was. When we live our lives for others we show off, when we live for ourselves we are comfortable. Make it a habit to live the life of your husband and wife without any filter. Whatever you have is the best, keep this feeling in mind. Be it a love marriage or an arranged one, your spontaneity is the quality that helps in maintaining a relationship throughout life. The more you stay away from things like lies, pretense, and deceit, the better it will be for the relationship. Have this ease with each other.
Ardhanarishwar
One name of Lord Shiva is Ardhanarishwar. Ardhanarishvara means half man and half woman. Lord Shiva also once took the form of Ardhanarishwar. Mother Parvati was present in his half form. The basic mantra of a happy married life is that even though the bodies of husband and wife are different, they are the same. Therefore, husband and wife deserve equal rights and respect.
Love soul
The relationship between Mother Parvati and Lord Shiva shows the true definition of love. Mother Parvati was a beautiful and gentle princess but she chose Bholenath as her husband. Bholenath was a recluse wearing ashes and wearing a snake garland around his neck. Mother Parvati saw not Bholenath's appearance but his nature and inner self. Bholenath has a pure mind and is innocent like the name. Mother Parvati did not give importance to money or her husband's appearance but to love for family life.
Responsibility
Discharging family responsibilities honestly makes life happy. When Bhole Baba remains engrossed in penance, Mother Parvati takes care of the creation including his family, sons, and all the gods and goddesses in his absence. Every husband and wife should discharge the responsibilities of the family in the presence of each other or the absence of each other for an ideal happy life.
