There is no insurance on local train tickets.
Indian Railways provides you insurance facility only in online reserved trains and that too is an optional facility. On the other hand, if we talk about local trains, then you do not get this facility in them. That is if there is an accident with a local train. Then the passengers traveling in it are not given insurance facilities by the railways. However, the injured and dead passengers in the accident are compensated by the railways and the Government of India. And neither is your insurance money deducted from the local train tickets.

The option is available in the online reservation
The passengers who book tickets online get insurance facilities from the railways. You get this facility in both sleeper and single coaches. For this, when you book a ticket online with your IRCTC ID or get it booked by someone.

Then you get the option of insurance. After clicking yes on it, you get the facility of insurance. For this, you have to pay 0.45 paise. If you click on the option, then you will not get the facility of insurance.
