You might have heard about rosy pink cheeks, but have you heard about rosy pink lips? There are very few people who have pink lips. Most of the women want their lips to look beautiful, smooth and rosy. To keep the lips hydrated, we use things like lip balm or petroleum jelly.

Whenever it comes to following a skincare routine, lip scrub is also important. Like body scrub, it also exfoliates our lips and brings a glow to the lips by removing dead skin cells. Lips are very sensitive and can be affected by sun exposure like other body parts.

Lip scrub protects the lips from UV rays and prevents them from getting tanned or uneven. However, the question is, is it right to scrub lips? You know its benefits, but do you know about the disadvantages it causes?

Hair, skin and nail care expert Dr Mansi Shirolikar has explained both its advantages and disadvantages through a post on her social media account Instagram. She says whether lip scrubs are good or not depends on your skin type, the condition of your lips and how often you apply lip scrub. Let us in this article

What is lip scrub and how is it made?

It is just like a body scrub. It is not only good for dry and chapped lips but is an essential part of your skincare routine. If your lips are turning dark, a good lip scrub can remove dead skin cells. Not only this, it helps in removing dark spots and helps in making your lips soft and supple. Lip scrubs are usually made from sugar, coffee or salt, which helps in removing the dead skin from your lips.

Why is lip scrub important?

Exfoliating your lips with a lip scrub will make them appear smoother and softer. Not only this, the lips also start looking more hydrated. In addition to making lips look better, lip-lightening scrubs help prevent chapped lips and provide relief from the pain of dry, cracked lips.

Exfoliations helps make lips look plump and can help make them look fuller. Sugar and coconut oil can be used to make home scrubs.

Not only this, wrinkles also start forming on the lips with time, which these scrubs can remove. Lip scrub can be used at any time. Lip scrub, if applied in moderation, will soften your lips and remove dead cells.

Disadvantages of over-scrubbing lips?

If you have chapped lips, over-scrubbing can cause further damage. Exfoliation on sensitive and irritated skin can cause skin damage. Over-exfoliating can further irritate the skin and make the problem worse. If you are also applying the scrub, then apply it in a circular motion with very light hands.

If you do scrubbing daily, then this should also be avoided. This can also cause skin rashes. It is very important to moisturize your lips after exfoliation. If you don't do this, your skin may appear brittle.

How to Exfoliate Lips

Lips are sensitive, so you must apply the scrub gently. You can prepare a scrub at home using coffee, sugar, coconut oil honey etc. Apply it on your lips and rotate it in a circular motion for at least 30 seconds. After this, clean the lips with lukewarm water and do not forget to moisturize.
