Recently the Government of India has banned laptop imports. The notification issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) states that the import of laptops, tablets, all-in-one personal computers, and ultra-small computers and servers has been banned from October 31 i.e. till October 31. Laptops, computers, etc can be imported from the country to India but not after that.

Now many companies like Apple, Acer, HP, and Dell have appealed to the government. Tech companies have asked the government to give them at least 9-12 months instead of October 31, so that they get a chance to recover. They are likely to suffer a lot from this sudden ban. After the import is stopped, these companies will have to set up their plant to continue their laptop and tablet business in the Indian market, which is not possible in a month or two.

Indian companies were also affected
After this order from the government, external companies like Apple, Dell, Acer, and HP have suffered losses, due to this order, the work of domestic companies has also come to a standstill, because domestic companies are also dependent on imports. Recently Jio has launched JioBook which is being imported from China itself.

Initially, many such claims were made on social media posts that the government has banned the import of laptops only to benefit Jio, whereas the reality is that Jio's laptops are also being imported from China, and this decision of the government Jio has also been affected.
