Postpartum Laddoos For Recovery: Recovery from pregnancy and childbirth can be a challenging and overwhelming experience for every woman, but with the right nutrition and care, it is curable. From taking maximum rest and taking a balanced diet to drink more water and doing yoga or light exercise, one can return to normal life from the pregnancy period. Diet plays an important role in recovery and to speed up the recovery, here is a nutritious ladoo recipe that new moms must try and include in their diet.
Ingredients of Laddus
Ghee- It helps in adding healthy fats to the diet which nourishes the body, strengthens the joints, keeps the body warm and aids in digestion. Gum- Also known as edible gum, the gum is calcium, protein and vitamins that are essential for recovery of the body. Poppy seeds- Poppy seeds have a calming and relaxing effect on the body. Poppy seeds contain morphine which helps in getting better sleep. It also helps in producing more milk. Coconut- Coconut improves energy levels, and keeps you full for longer.
Nuts and dry fruits
Nuts- Nuts like almonds, pistachios, cashews and walnuts make the ladoo very rich. Just one laddu a day will fill you with energy. Loaded with nutrients, nuts are a must for a new mother. Seeds- This recipe contains pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds. Both seeds are a source of healthy fats and proteins, which help heal the body internally. Natural Sweetener - Raisins, dates and figs have been used instead of unhealthy white sugar in this ladoo recipe. Dates not only help in giving an energy boost but also increase milk production. Figs strengthen immunity and raisins are a good source of antioxidants.
Preparation of laddoos
6 tbsp ghee, 3 tbsp gum, 2 tbsp poppy seeds, 1 cup dry grated coconut, 1 cup chopped almonds, 1 cup chopped cashews, 1 cup chopped walnuts, 4 tbsp chopped pistachios, 4 tbsp Pumpkin seeds, 1 cup raisins, 2 tbsp sunflower seeds, 6 dry figs and 400 grams dates.
Method of making laddus-
Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan. Add gond and fry till puffed. Take out the gum on a plate and grind it to make a coarse powder. Now dry roast the poppy seeds for a minute or two. Also, dry roast the grated coconut. Take crushed gum, poppy seeds and grated coconut in a bowl. Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan. Add almonds, cashews, walnuts, pistachios, pumpkin seeds, raisins and sunflower seeds. Mix all the ingredients and fry for some time. Now heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan. Add finely chopped figs and mashed dates. Now prepare the mixture by mixing all the ingredients. Grease your hands with some ghee, break small balls from the mixture and roll them between your hands to make laddoos. Store the laddoos in an air-tight container and enjoy them whenever you feel like it.
