You will have many documents, one of which is your Aadhaar card and the other is your PAN card. Be it any government work or non-government work, both these documents are required. PAN card is also used for filing tax returns, taking loans, and KYC. Similarly, an Aadhaar card is needed to tell the identity of a person, to get a SIM card, and other works like opening a bank account. But this happens only till the person is alive, but do you know that when a person dies, then what happens to his documents like PAN card and Aadhaar card or what should we do with them? Probably not, so let's know what you can do with the PAN card and Aadhaar card of the deceased person. You can learn about this in the next slides...
First, know about PAN cards.
A PAN card is a document that is needed for other works like opening a bank account to filing returns. In such a situation, if you have a PAN card of a dead person, then you should surrender this PAN card. For this, you can contact the tax department and get it surrendered.
At the same time, if you have the PAN card of a dead person, then before returning it, you have to keep one thing in mind first get all your work done. You should also get all the accounts of the deceased transferred to another person's name so that you do not face any problems later.
What to do with Aadhaar?
If you also have an Aadhaar card of a dead person or there is someone like this in your family, then under the rules, you will not be able to surrender or cancel his Aadhaar. But you can get that Aadhaar locked...
To lock your Aadhaar, first of all, you have to go to UIDAI's official website www.uidai.gov.in, and here select the 'My Aadhaar' section and click on 'Aadhaar Services'
After this, click on 'Lock/Unlock Biometric' and enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number.
Now an OTP will come on your registered mobile number, enter it here
Then you will get the option to 'Lock/Unlock' the biometric data, by clicking on which you can lock the Aadhaar card of the deceased person.
