Not drinking enough water is harmful

Keeping the body well hydrated helps the kidneys to clear excess sodium and toxins from the body. Drinking plenty of water is also considered the best way to avoid kidney stones.

Health experts say that for most people, drinking 3 to 4 liters of water per day is considered sufficient. If you drink less water then it can increase the risk of kidney problems.

Do not self-medicate
Overuse of medications, especially over-the-counter pain relievers, can be harmful to your kidneys. NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) are known to damage the kidneys. Minimize regular use of NSAIDs and do not exceed the recommended dose. Consumption of any medicine should be avoided without medical advice.

Too much salt and sugar are both harmful
A high-salt diet is high in sodium, which can raise blood pressure. This can also damage your kidney. The kidney is not able to filter the excess sodium in the food properly, due to which it starts accumulating in the form of crystals.

Like salt, sugar in excess is also harmful. It not only increases obesity but due to its excessive amount, there is also a risk of increasing kidney diseases. Both of these should be consumed at least.

Alcohol and smoking are also harmful
Researchers found that heavy drinkers or smokers also had a higher risk of kidney problems. People who smoke or drink heavily are almost five times more likely to develop chronic kidney disease than people who do not smoke or drink alcohol.

To keep the whole body healthy including kidney-liver, distance should be made from both alcohol and smoking.
