How to report an objectionable message

  • First of all, open the Instagram app on your smartphone.
  • Now go to the DM section and open the conversation from which you want to report a message.
  • Now tap and hold the message you want to report, then choose More options from the pop-up menu.
  • Now press the report button.
  • After this, the user can choose the reason for reporting the message.
  • You can now follow the on-screen instructions and then tap on the Submit Report button.

Can report the entire conversation

Social media platform Instagram gives you the option to report an entire conversation that you feel is objectionable with another person. Please note that group chat does not support this feature. Here's how you can do it.

  • First of all, open the Instagram app on your mobile device.
  • After this go to the DM section.
  • Tap and hold on to the conversation you want to report.
  • Then tap on the name of the recipient available at the top of the chat.
  • Now scroll down and hit the report button.
  • Finally, choose the reason for reporting the conversation and tap on the Submit Report button.
  • After submitting the report, Instagram will review the most recent 30 messages sent in the conversation. In addition, the account you reported will not know who filed the complaint.
