Every day lakhs of passengers travel on Indian trains. Keeping in view the convenience of the passengers, Indian Railways is operating thousands of trains across the country. These trains run from big cities to the border areas of the country. For this reason, Indian Railways is called the lifeline of the nation. Trains are often crowded. Due to this, many passengers book tickets well in advance.

However, till now the period for advance ticket booking in trains was 120 days. At the same time, Indian Railways has made a big change in the rules of advance ticket booking. Under the changed rules, passengers will now be able to book train tickets 60 days in advance instead of 120. Indian Railways has issued a notification regarding this.

According to this notification, the time limit for reservation has now been made 60 days. According to the notification, this rule will come into effect from November 1. From 1st November, the time limit for reservation booking will be reduced from 120 days to 60 days.

However, as the reservation window for train tickets opens 120 days in advance, many passengers book tickets well in advance. On the other hand, those who had waiting tickets got enough time for their waiting tickets to get confirmed due to the time gap of 120 days.

Due to the time limit of 60 days, the chances of waiting for tickets to get booked will be less now. Till 1st April 2015, the advance reservation period of Indian Railways was 60 days. After this, the government increased the reservation period to 120 days.
