Under what circumstances can the train chain be pulled?
If you are travelling in a train and a passenger is left behind at the railway station, then in such a situation you can pull the chain. If there is a fire in the train, someone falls from the train, any old or disabled person is facing any kind of problem, there is any medical problem, snatching or robbery is taking place in the train, then in this situation You can pull the chain.
If there is any problem other than this, it will have to be examined by the Railway authorities through assessment as to whether chain pulling was necessary in the situation or not.
Also, keep in mind that it is illegal to pull a passenger's train due to its delay at the railway station. Delaying the departure of the train will be considered a crime.
What is the punishment for pulling the chain? Chain Pulling Punishment
Based on Section 141 of the Indian Railway Act, pulling the chain without any large area is considered illegal. According to this Railway Act, if a passenger pulls the train chain without any reasonable cause, he will be considered guilty. In such a situation, he can be sentenced to one year in jail or a fine of up to Rs 1,000.
If you have done this for the first time, you may get some leniency in punishment.
