Indian Railways is operating thousands of trains across the country. Crores of passengers travel in these trains every day. Not only this, the vast network of Indian Railways is spread across the country which connects the border areas of the country to big metros. Indian Railways has made many rules to ensure that passengers do not face any kind of problems while traveling on the train. However, it is necessary to have a ticket to travel on a train. At the same time, it is often seen that many times the passenger misses the train due to delay. In such a situation, the question arises whether the passenger can travel on another train on that train ticket in case of missing the train. What are the rules of Indian Railways regarding this? Let's know -
According to the rules of Indian Railways, if a passenger has taken a general ticket and has missed his train due to late arrival at the station. In this situation, he can travel in another train of the same category. On the other hand, one cannot travel on the general ticket in other category trains like Vande Bharat, Shatabdi, etc.
Apart from this, if a person has a reservation ticket, then he cannot travel on a reservation ticket on any other train in case he misses the train.
If you travel on another train with a reservation ticket, then if caught, the TTE considers you as a ticketless traveler. In this situation, the TTE can charge you a fine.
If you do not pay the fine, then legal action can be taken against you in this situation. Apart from this, you can also be jailed. If you have a reservation ticket and you have missed your train, then in this situation you should file a TDR giving proper reason. After this, you will have to buy a ticket to travel on another train.
