Idli Chaat is a wonderful dish that you can easily make at home for your loved ones. Apart from this, if plain idli bores you then you can add tadka to the dish and make it tastier. This is a perfect makeover for idli and you will be surprised to know that this snack recipe can be made in just 30 minutes. This chaat recipe is mildly spicy and a healthy one to eat.
To make this delicious chaat recipe, first cut the idli into cubes. After this make a thin batter by mixing rice powder, chilli powder, asafoetida powder, salt and water. After this, heat coconut oil in a pan on medium heat. When the oil is well heated, dip these idli cubes in the batter and fry them till they turn golden brown. Once the idlis are made, keep them aside. To make a smooth coconut-coriander chutney, grind grated coconut, green chillies, ginger, coriander leaves and salt together. Then, whisk a thick curd. Add 2 tbsp coriander chutney to it and mix well. Finally, add salt as per taste.
Heat coconut oil in a pan on medium heat and add mustard seeds along with urad dal. Fry them for a few seconds and then add small onions, ginger and green chillies. Fry the onions till their colour turns golden brown. Turn off the gas and add a pinch of asafoetida over the fried onions.
Put fried idli in curd, add fried onions, add chopped coriander on top and garnish with chilli powder at the end. Your Ildi Chaat is now ready to serve.
