But sometimes due to some reason, they have to face wear and tear. Arthritis is considered to be the main cause of joint pain. There are two types of arthritis, first- Osteoarthritis and second Rheumatoid arthritis.

According to the American College of Rheumatology, osteoarthritis is seen in people above the age of 40 years. It gradually progresses and goes on affecting the joints of the wrists, hands, hips and knees. Joint pain due to osteoarthritis is due to the breakdown of cartilage. Cartilage acts as a cushion and shock absorber for the joints. While the second type of arthritis is 'rheumatoid arthritis', which usually affects women more than men. It goes on spoiling and weakening the joints over time. Rheumatoid arthritis causes swelling, pain, and fluid buildup in the joints as the body's immune system attacks the membranes that line the joints.
