Junk Food Law: A very interesting and important law has come into force in Colombia. According to this law, a 10 percent tax will be imposed on ultra-processed foods that contain high amounts of sugar, salt, or fats. These foods include jellies, jams, sauces, purees, seasonings, sausages etc. These food items will be taxed at 15 percent next year and 25 percent by 2025.

Colombia has become the first country to implement such a law. The purpose behind taking such a step is to reduce diseases caused by lifestyle. A major reason for this is the high amount of sodium in the food of the people of Colombia.
