Male Contraception: The idea that women will have to take contraceptive pills to prevent unwanted pregnancy will soon become old. Most of the contraceptives available in the market are for the use of women. Women are protected from unwanted pregnancy with the help of birth control pills, Copper-T, implants, etc. But India's first male contraceptive injection, Risug, has been developed. Let us know what Risug is and how effective it is and how it works in men.

According to PTI, the Indian Council of Medical Research or ICMR has completed the clinical trials on India's first male contraceptive injection RESUG. ICMR has been doing research on this for the last seven years and finally, it was found that Risag is effective for contraception and it is also completely safe. This contraceptive has been discovered by Dr. Sujoy Kumar Guha of IIT Kharagpur.

What is this research?

With the help of family clinics, 303 married and healthy men aged 24-40 years were selected. These men were injected with 60 mg of Risug and this study shows that with the help of contraception, pregnancy could be prevented 99.02% and there were no side effects. This research also found that 97.3 percent of azoospermia was achieved with contraceptive resistance. Azoospermia is a condition in which no sperm is found in the semen. During this research, the wives of those men were also kept under observation and it was found that there was no negative impact on their health.

How long is it effective?

This contraceptive is effective for 13 years, that is, once Risag injection is taken, pregnancy can be prevented for 13 years.

How does resag work?

There is a sperm duct in each testicle, through which sperm reaches the penis. Risag is injected alternately into both the sperm ducts. After this, the positively charged sperm stick to the walls of the duct, and the negatively charged sperm are destroyed.
