Why are cases of breast cancer increasing among young women in India?

1. Lifestyle and Reproductive Factors

-Early Menarche: A delay in the age at which girls have their first menstruation increases their overall exposure to estrogen, which is an important factor in breast cancer.

-Sedentary lifestyle : Physical inactivity and obesity are associated with hormonal changes that increase the risk of breast cancer.

-Stress: Prolonged stress can also affect hormones and contribute to the development of cancer.

-Delayed Childbearing And Fewer Pregnancies: These factors further increase the exposure to estrogen and increase the potential risk.

-Limited Breastfeeding: Breastfeeding provides protective benefits against breast cancer, so the risk may increase if a woman breastfeeds less.

3. Environmental Factors

-Diet: Unhealthy diet, consumption of excessively processed food, eating less fruits and vegetables can increase the risk of breast cancer.

-Water Quality: Exposure to toxins and pollutants in water can increase the risk of cancer.

-Air Pollution: Many studies indicate that there is a potential link between air pollution and breast cancer, smog can also increase this risk.

3. Hereditary Factors

-BRCA and Related Gene Mutations: BRCA and related gene mutations are the main factors of breast cancer and studies suggest that their prevalence may be higher in India than in other countries.

• Triple-Negative Breast Cancer: This is an aggressive form of breast cancer that often affects young women and may be associated with BRCA mutations.
