A baby walker is weakening the bones and muscles of the legs of infants. This shocking revelation has been made by the doctors of KGMU located in Lucknow. Many children are coming to the OPD of the Pediatric Orthopedics Department here with such problemsAccording to a news published in Hindustan, 100 to 125 children are coming to every OPD of KGMU Pediatric Orthopedics Department with bone-related diseases every day. More than 20 thousand such children are coming to OPD in a year. Many children are facing problems with their heels and knees. According to doctors, walkers are the cause of heel-related problems in 6-8-month-old children.
Hindrance in the development of muscles:
Dr. Vikas Verma, Chairman of the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics, says that one should not try to make the child walk a lot before 11 months. Walkers should not be given to children. By walking with the help of a walker, the entire weight of the body falls on the heels, knees, and other joints. This increases the risk of bone disorders. The growth and development of muscles is hindered. He said that there can be many reasons for crooked bones and knee-related problems, one of them can be a walker.
Let children learn
- The bones of children learning to walk with the help of walkers are becoming crooked.
- Many such children came to KGMU Pediatric Ortho Department in a year.
-Doctors advise, children should be allowed to learn to walk naturally.
Change in walking pattern:
Dr. Vikas says that in babies who are trained with walkers, there is a high possibility of permanent disturbance in the walking pattern because the bones of the feet of small children are very soft. In such a situation, they may face problems due to pressure or burden.
