Ayurvedacharya Sandeep Upadhyay explains that the Semal tree has special importance in Indian culture, it is called 'Shimbal' and 'Shalmali' in Ayurveda. Beautiful red flowers bloom on the Semal tree in February, which is considered a sign of the arrival of spring. Whereas in the month of Phalgun, all its leaves fall and only bunches of red flowers remain on the tree. When the clusters of these flowers fall away, a boll or fruit remains, inside which shiny cotton is formed.
Let us tell you that the scientific name of Semal is BombaxCeiba, which is also known by names like Malabar Cotton Tree and Red Silk Cotton. It is noteworthy that while the cotton produced from Semal is used directly, its flowers, leaves, roots and bark are used in the treatment of health problems.
Useful as a blood purifier
Semal is a natural blood purifier, whose leaves and flowers are especially used to purify the blood. They are rich in antioxidant and anti-microbial properties. In such a situation, by consuming them, toxic substances are easily removed from the body and the blood gets purified.
Increase breast milk production
If the mother's body is not able to produce enough milk after the birth of the child, then sesame can be helpful to a great extent in increasing milk productivity. For this, it is advised to consume Semal root bark powder mixed with milk.
Helpful in getting rid of leucorrhoea
The use of Semal is also considered effective in getting rid of the problem of leucorrhoea i.e. vaginal discharge in women. A fungus called Candida albicans is considered responsible for vaginal discharge. The anti-microbial properties found in sesame prove to be useful in preventing this fungus. In such a situation, consumption of Semal fruits and flowers is advised to get rid of leucorrhoea. According to Ayurvedacharya Sandeep Upadhyay, the consumption of fresh Semal fruit with desi ghee and rock salt is beneficial.
Helpful in period-related problems
Semal flower is considered helpful in providing relief from period-related problems. Especially it is considered effective in removing excessive bleeding and menstrual irregularities. In such a situation, the consumption of fresh Semal flower juice is considered beneficial for women.
Get rid of pimples and acne
It is also considered useful in providing relief from skin-related problems like pimples, acne and spots on the face. In fact, due to its anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties, it is considered beneficial in removing skin disorders. For this, it is advised to grind both its root and bark and apply it as a paste.
Semal gum is also beneficial
Apart from this, Semal gum is also considered very useful for health, which is called Mocharas in Ayurveda. Let us tell you that the consumption of Semal Gum is considered to be a strength enhancer. Along with this, Semal gum is used to get relief from problems like diarrhoea.
